Melanie Faizer teaches digital reporting, editing and entrepreneurship in media. Faizer was recipient of the 2014 Lecturer Award in the College of Communication and Information. She was a participant at the Poynter Institute's 2017 Teachapalooza conference, and was a fellow at the Scripps Howard Entrepreneurial Journalism Institute at Arizona State University's Cronkite Journalism School in January 2015. Faizer is author of a digital textbook, Multimedia Storytelling: From Research to Realization (Great River Technologies, 2015), and continues to freelance.

From 1998 to 2009 she worked as a multimedia editor, manager and television producer at Bloomberg News in Princeton, NJ, New York City and London. Faizer also worked as director of information services and education at Opera America, a national nonprofit, from 2009 to 2011. She has published in a variety of arts, news and trade journals.
